Director, Upward Bound
Jennifer Fong, M.Ed. is the director of Eastern Michigan University’s Upward bound program, a successful college-prep program serving 80 underrepresented high school students, most of whom will be the first generation of their family to attend college. Jennifer has worked for 25 years in the field of education as a classroom teacher, Assistant Curator of Education at the Toledo Zoo, Director of the Center for Professional Studies at Lourdes University and as Grants Administrator at Toledo School for the Arts. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Toledo, and her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lourdes University. Jennifer is currently completing an Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Bowling Green State University where her research is focused on equity in education for underrepresented, urban students and schools. Jennifer is dedicated to helping our Upward Bound students achieve the dreams they have set for themselves and I enjoy watching them grow and develop into confident, successful young adults. Jennifer also loves learning, traveling, cooking and curling up with a good book. She is most proud of her two children, Kevin and Katie.
