The development of the Research Action Seminar as the research arm of the Center for Community Building and Management, has helped to build the foundation for the Center. The research action seminar, consisting of at least twenty-seven members that include several groups of faculty from three different EMU colleges and key leaders from different communities has been meeting during the past two years. These sessions have been held in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Dearborn, Livonia, Oak Park, and Toledo, Ohio. These faculty/community partnerships, which focus on critical community building issues, have produced a series of proposals, preliminary proposals, and concept papers that have been submitted for funding or comment. The community groups include four multi-purpose ethnic based community organizations.
