SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

SWRK 489/589 - Field Placement / Community Practice (required courses; 489 for undergraduate students and 589 for graduate students). Includes: Orientation meetings and readings prior to travel, pre-tests, and other preparatory work, Spanish Classes, direct service at an agency.

SWRK 489/589 - Field Seminar / Processing taken concurrently with course above. Includes: Mandatory four orientation meetings before trip, and weekly processing in Morelia.

SWRK 409 - Seminar where students meet 3 days a week for 2-1/2 hours each day for six weeks. Includes: lectures presentations, and workshops with local community leaders and university professors.

SWRK 405 - Analysis and Change in Social Welfare Policy. Includes: mandatory four 3 hour classes prior to departure for Mexico, research, and a written paper. Additional classes while in Morelia.

SWRK 360/526 - Peoples and Cultures of Mexico (360 for undergraduate students and 526 for graduate students). Includes: Trips to Mexico city, Guanajuato, Patzcuaro, and Janitzio, plus lectures at Universidad Latina de America, visits may include Government Offices, Folkloric Ballet, Cathedral Organ Concert, Museums, Archaelogical sites, and others.
